As you will have discovered during your previous studies, there are many different learning styles. What the KAPLAN SUPPORT PROGRAM has created is a truly integrated multi-media Support Kit to prepare you for the rigours of the CA Program.

Resource Handbooks

These will be a key reference resource in your preparations for your Extension Project, Focus Sessions and the Exam. They cover all the major areas of the syllabus and explain the key concepts involved.

The Resource Handbooks follow the same structure and order as the Institute's Candidate Learning Pack. There are four Resource Handbooks to coincide with the Unit structure of the syllabus and the CLP. This means that you will be able to easily use the KAPLAN SUPPORT PROGRAM material alongside the CLP.

The emphasis of the material is to provide extra explanation for topics covered only briefly in the CLP and to show you how to apply your knowledge.

Only by applying your knowledge, can you test your understanding. So at appropriate stages in the Resource Handbooks you will be directed to undertake Activities to test your understanding. These will include:

  • questions with pro-forma answers to guide you through the problem;
  • multiple-choice questions;
  • review questions for you to attempt on your own without the guidance provided by pro-formas; and
  • comprehensive solutions for all Activities.

Critical File

Since the Module Exam is open book, you will probably create a Critical File to aid your final revision and to use as a quick reference tool in the Exam.

To help you create your own Critical File that will suit your personal requirements, we have created the Critical File which will be emailed to you. You will be able to amend it as you like to reflect your understanding of each topic area.

Online Support

When you encounter a problem in your studies, you want to be able to resolve it as soon as possible. Often colleagues can help, but sometimes this is not possible. Now you will have on-line support from KAPLAN tutors whenever you need it.

Exam Guide

This is designed to be used during your final revision phase and will be dispatched to you during July 2008. It will contain detailed hints on preparing for the exam and 3 full-scale Mock Exams in the same format as the ICAA exams. Comprehensive solutions, including detailed mark allocations will be provided.

Mock Exam

Last, but not least, you will be able to download the KAPLAN Mock Exam from this web site just before the Exam. This will be a key part of your final revision for the Exam.

Cost

The cost of the Support Kit is $434.50 (inc GST) or $429.00 (inc GST) if you enrol online. This does not include the cost of any Lecture Program undertaken.

Focus Session Prep Pack

(cost $55 or $49.50 Online inc GST)

The format of the Focus Sessions includes a 25 minute multiple choice Unit Knowledge Quiz. This test will be closed book and will contribute 5% per test to each candidate's mark for the Focus Sessions. Therefore, 20%, out of the 30% allocated to performance in the Focus Sessions, will be allocated to the Quiz. These Quizzes will play a vital role in a candidate’s success in this part of the module.

For each unit, the KAPLAN SUPPORT PROGRAM has prepared a Prep Pack which includes Guidance on how to approach this style of question and a range of typical questions with solutions. The Prep Pack will be produced in hard copy format.

Technique Testing

(cost $66 or $60.50 Online inc GST)

The most common remark from Examiners is poor exam technique! In order to start early in refining a candidate’s exam technique, the KAPLAN SUPPORT PROGRAM has Technique Testing. After each Focus Session candidates will be issued with a typical exam question to be worked, desirably, under simulated exam conditions. The answers will be scanned and emailed to the KAPLAN SUPPORT PROGRAM, marked by experienced exam markers and returned within 7 days. The object is to hone candidates’ exam technique from an early stage of the program.

The 4-day Lecture Program

(cost $467.50 or $462.00 Online inc GST)

For many years we have run our Lecture Program in most capital cities around Australia. These have been very popular and will again be offered over 4 days.

This will be held in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney. Run by experienced presenters the Program runs from 9.00am to 5.00pm each day. It will cover key areas that we know cause difficulties and the highly inter-active format provides plenty of opportunity to resolve any problems.

Sessions 1, 2 and 3 will concentrate on the technical issues covered by the Extension Project and provide detailed guidance on how to prepare for your Focus Sessions.

Session 4 is held towards the end of the module and will concentrate on revising the key areas of the syllabus and applying this knowledge to typical exam questions.

Exam Prep Day

A day (Session 4) that concentrates on the "must know" topics and how they could be examined. Learn how to apply your knowledge to the facts in the question and maximise your marks.
