Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

RPL is a formal assessment process to assist applicants to gain accreditation toward the requirements for the Real Estate Agent's Licence Program. It is aimed at formally recognising the skills and knowledge earned by experienced people in real estate.

This assessment requires the presentation of evidence to support claims for recognition of competency. The onus of proof lies with the applicant.

RPL is undertaken through a demonstration of the principles of validity, reliability, flexibility and fairness. Different forms of evidence can be presented in support of RPL/RCC, however the process, result and assessment principles remain the same.

Types of evidence include:

  • Practical demonstrations
  • Third party reports
  • Answers to oral or written questions
  • Workbooks
  • Personal portfolio
  • Workplace documents
  • Case studies and projects
  • Diary or logged time
  • Testimonials/awards
  • Certificates/qualifications/transcripts
